Crazy Making!

My husband calls lots of things "crazy making" and certainly this quilt top was it for me.

I've been working on this in little bits of time since this summer when I started the HSTeria Quilt Along. Final post about the quilt along HERE

I was going to add another row, but after I got it sewn together, this is big enough.

The thing that made me crazy though, isn't the pattern, it's the pressing.  If you press to the dark, and you put two darks together you have to change one seam or just press it funny.  I started out changing the seams, but then that got to be too much.  So I just started butting up the seams and then pressing out the seam, which isn't straight, and although it seems to work it drives me crazy.  So I thought, well, I'll look up pressing seams for a Jacob's Ladder and it didn't help.
 See HERE

You can see it becomes a maze of pressing and figuring out where the seam should turn.  And then when you take four blocks and make them do a diagonal like I did in this one you can see there is a real big problem.  I've done several quilts along this line and as of yet I haven't figured out a good way to press, so if anyone has a secret I'd appreciate it as I do love that block in the diagonal pattern.  So I'll put things away and then in a year or two make another!  Or maybe find something else!

I'm not going to quilt this.  I need to look up my quilter that I used to use and see if she'll still quilt something for me since I got my new machine.  It's time I looked her up anyhow.  I've missed talking to her!

It's been two weeks since hubby had his surgery and he's doing so much better than I did!  He had the staples removed yesterday and got rid of those ugly socks and he was getting antsy about the strings on the floor, so I grabbed my camera and caught him picking up
Next week he starts PT at the center so I'll be bussing him about and he'll be making cracks about my driving!  I can hardly wait.

I'm a press fanatic - I like the back as neat as the front. Things like this I would press everything open, but that's just me.

I tend to press blocks like that with the seams open simply because I can't be bothered to figure it out! I sort of wish my husband would clean up after me but he already cooks all of my meals. I shouldn't push my luck!
